Thurs. 8/1 @ 7:30 Zoom/ in person, Town Hall
Passcode:06612
Tell your leaders how you feel about factories in Easton. Although fifty of you showed up for the last Zoning Board of Appeals Meeting, you were not allowed to speak. This meeting is your only chance. They don’t allow public comment at Planning and Zoning Meetings any more.
You can also tell town leaders how you feel about them trying to restrict your access to public information relating to town government.
Why weren’t the other Selectman informed of this action? Shouldn’t all Selectmen participate in a decision like this? Of course Logie files more requests, she is the head of an activist group and is representing many other citizens.
There was nothing “vexatious” about Logie’s Freedom of Information requests. She came to town hall, copied documents at her own expense, and handed them back. The First Selectman’s attempt to curtail Logie’s access is also an effort to curtail your access. Logie works to keep you informed.
She has uncovered many things, including contamination problems on the EMS land we are buying, zoning and building code violations at the Riding School, mold problems at the Old Samuel Staples (years ago), and an attempt to build high-density Housing on the South Park Land, land that was bought to prevent higher-density housing.
This “vexatious” attempt to use administrative law to shut down your access to public information must not happen again and does not belong to the Easton Town Government.
