The Latest Easton CT News…
July 2024
The Easton Zoning Board of Appeals voted to remove an Easton resident’s complaint regarding the expansion of the cabinet factory next to EMS from the July 9, 2024 meeting agenda.
Lent is challenging the Special Permit granted by Planning and Zoning that allows the cabinet manufacturer operating in the house next to EMS to construct a new, stand-alone, 3,000 to the 4,000-square-foot factory on his one-and-a-half-acre nonconforming lot (it is in the 3-acre zone) because the permit violates Easton zoning, including our town ordinance against two structures on one lot sharing a septic system, the prohibition on manufacturing, and the idea that there should be no expansion of structures on a non-conforming lot.

The Board received and read an opinion from the town attorney advising them not to consider the complaint/appeal for a few reasons, including that Lent has also filed a complaint with the Superior Court. Below is a link to his lawsuit:

June 2024
In April, Easton Selectman D’Addario smeared Easton citizens as “obstructionists” who asked for common-sense precautions like having the town do its own soil test on the land we are buying next to the Emergency Medical Services Building instead of relying upon the seller’s test, which said the land was clean. Under pressure from the public, the town tested the land again and found contamination. Here is a link to our recent letter in the Easton Courier asking town officials to stop calling us names.
The Easton Emergency Medical Services Committee was recently briefed by the town’s soil testing professional regarding the soil and water contamination he found. The Committee is proceeding with the project without doing any more testing. The professional will evaluate what they find when they start digging. Here is a link to his final report.
